Small inductors of less than 50uH (SMD inductors up to 500uH) have little parasitic capacitance and therefore do not affect the measurement.

The large parasitic capacitance of a bulky (winding) inductor affects the resonant frequency, which lowers the resonant frequency and is measured to be greater than the original inductance value. When measured in this Large L mode, this parasitic capacitance is removed and displayed.


SMD less than 1mH, bulky inductor with wide winding spacing and low winding.
Common small inductors or low turn inductors

 


Inductors with large parasitic capacitance.
Inductors with high rotation speed even if the magnetic body is air

 


For ambiguous inductors use the smaller value after measuring both methods.
